Description
Macrocarpa or Monterey Cypress (Cupressus macrocarpa) – harder wood than pine and burns hotter and longer. Macrocarpa should be burnt in an enclosed firebox, not an open fire. It has a tendency to spit hot embers (sparks) which could cause damage. Distinctive ‘woody’ fragrance has been used in making incense. Sourced from old isolated trees or mature shelter belts; increasingly from plantation forestry. Energy output approximately 5.25 MBTU’s (million of Btu’s) per stacked cubic metre (at 20% moisture content). Stock availability: medium.
